The process:

1. Water is transported from the pool to the purification plant
2. There, it flows through a hair removal filter (removes pollutants)
3. A flocculant is added that groups particles of organic matter together to make them easier to remove
4. These particles are removed via a sand filter which is backflushed periodically
5. Pollutants are discharged to the sewers
